About

I am a Christian first, and everything else comes next. I love my wife and my church.[more to come...]

Real Christianity?

I am as bored as I could possibly be. I am in Bremen, IN this morning sitting in the basement of a bank. I came into work with my girlfriend because I am buying a TV from one of her coworkers. I tried getting a document written for work. I don’t like work, so why would I do more of it on a Saturday? Saturday morning cartoons are on, but they are all horrible. Is this a perpetual problem where you can look back and nothing is as good as when you were a kid, or does the programming and content suck this badly?
I read the first couple of chapters of the book Roaring Lambs by Bob Briner a week or two ago and I was convicted of two things. One, I am not being salt in my workplace. And two, you can complain all you want, but things will only change if you offer alternatives to the status-qrap around you. Thank you Mahatma for sticking your quote in my head, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” It’s amazing how many of the worlds religions have it dead-on, but are dead-set in going to hell despite the amazing philosophies and concepts they live out in their lives. They are all missing the most important piece.
Sometimes I hate being called a Christian. Sometimes I hate the idea of “missions” because of the number of people every Sunday who sit unaffected in the pews. Most Sundays, I sit unaffected in the pew. I hear of revivals and reformations of the past and my heart wants that in my own life, but more than that in the way we understand what church is. We need to know what it means to seek righteousness. True righteousness and not self-righteousness.
